When should my child begin dance classes ?

Children's dance education can begin at the age of three, at which time they will be taught pre-ballet and tap training to improve balance and co-ordination. They will learn the meaning of rhythm, learn to listen to music and learn to accept discipline. Bad habits are formed in early years and often can never be corrected; therefore, it is of greatest importance to have proper dance training.

Your child is about to begin dance training. Through proper training personality will be developed along with good posture, poise, and grace. Should my child take private lessons?

Class lessons are best for your child for he/she will learn to work in unison with a group. The competition is good for the dance student and will make he/she grow into a more enthusiastic dancer. Good work habits will be formed through the cooperation, thus teaching your child to live with people in harmony all through life.

When will my child begin Pointe training?

Young dancers are always enthusiastic about beginning Pointe dancing too soon. If a child has had proper ballet training he/she will begin Pointe dancing around the age of 11-13. If care is not taken, lifelong disabilities can result from starting Pointe before the muscles are strengthened.

Why is Ballet so important to dancers?

Ballet technique is written in French, the traditional language of dance and tap movements have specific terminology. By learning the meaning of the terms, the dance movements will be easier to execute. Dancers are only made through hours of practicing technique to perfect control of every part of the mind and body. Congratulation to you, Parents, for giving your child a chance to build a beautiful, strong, and healthy body, mind and to enter into the art of dancing.

When is Jazz incorporated to a child's curriculum?

Young dancers are anxious to begin jazz. Once a level V has been achieved a young dancer may begin jazz, however, only in conjunction with weekly ballet classes. Jazz is built on the basic fundamentals of ballet and without prior ballet training a young dancer will never fully grasp the body movement concepts.
