Attire

Ballet & Pointe

Pink ballet shoes, any color leotard and tights. Additional clothing is not necessary and restricts movement. All students in Beg/Int 1 and higher should have their hair in a neat bun. Boys should wear black jazz pants and a solid T-shirt with black ballet shoes.

Tap

Black tap shoes appropriate for level. Level 1-4 wear black patent leather; levels Beg/Int 1-Int 1 wear black U-shell buckle taps, and Int 2-advanced wear black tie oxfords. Girls should wear leotard and tights or dance shorts. Hair should be pulled off their face. Ponytail or bun is acceptable.Boys should wear black jazz pants and a solid T-shirt.

Jazz

Bare feet for Beg/Int 1 and Beg/Int 2, Tan jazz boots for Int 1, Int 2, Int 3, Int 4, Advanced students may be bare foot until told otherwise. Girls should wear leotard and tights or dance shorts. Hair should be pulled off their face. Ponytail or bun is acceptable.Boys should wear black jazz pants and a solid T-shirt.

Contemporary

Bare feet, Girls should wear leotard and tights or dance shorts. Hair should be pulled off their face. Ponytail or bun is acceptable. Boys should wear black jazz pants and a solid T-shirt. Shoes will be decided on prior to dance performances.

Lyrical

Bare feet, girls should wear leotard and tights or dance shorts. Hair should be pulled off their face. Ponytail or bun is acceptable. Boys should wear black jazz pants and a solid T-shirt. Shoes will be decided on prior to dance performances.

Hip Hop

Leotards are frowned upon in Hip Hop. Please wear t-shirt, sweatpants, dance shorts, dance top and/or gym shorts. Show your personality and dress to bring out your personality. Hip Hop 1, Hip Hop 2, Hip Hop 3 and Hip Hop 4 will require Chuck Taylor Hi Converse shoes for recital and Intermediate Hip Hops-Advanced Hip Hop will require Gia Mia Combat Boots. Hair should be pulled up in ponytail and off face.

Modern

Bare feet, girls should wear leotard and tights or dance shorts. Hair should be pulled off their face. Ponytail or bun is acceptable. Boys should wear black jazz pants and a solid T-shirt.

Musical Theatre

Bare feet for musical theatre 1 & 2 and black t-strap character shoes for adv musical theatre. Girls should wear leotard and tights. Hair should be pulled off their face. Ponytail or bun is acceptable. Boys should wear black jazz pants and a solid T-shirt.

Tumbling/Acrobatics

Bare feet footless tights, girls should wear leotard with dance spanx over them, or biketard. Hair should be pulled off their face and must be in a mid-bun. Boys should wear black jazz pants or shorts and a solid color fitted tank top.

Strength/Conditioning Class

Workout attire, spanx, tank tops (fitted), leggings, sports bra 

 

***Please note no student should wear a leotard without tights on.unless they have dance shorts on. Ballet and Acro require tights at all times

 

Below you will find a list of everything you need to succeed in dance class.

  • Leotard-allows teacher to see a dancers body lines. Men may wear a white t-shirt and black pants.
  • Dance Top/Shorts - this can be worn in place of leotard in certain classes. Ballet and Acro always requires a leotard.
  • Tights-worn to protect legs from scrapes and burns from shoes and floor work. Tights are also worn as proper dance etiquette. Generally dancers wear pink tights to class. Please check our accessory list to see the style of tight assigned to each class.
  • Shoes-specific shoes are assigned to each style of dance. Please refer to our accessory list to see the specific shoe assigned to each class.
  • Appearance-Hair must be secured away from the face in either a bun, ponytail, etc. It is recommended that jewelry not be worn in class. Dancers should present themselves in a professional manner at all times to prepare themselves for future dance auditions.
  • Dance Bag- Dancers should pack tights, shoes, hair ties, bobby pins, band-aids, water bottle, deodorant, female toiletries, hair spray, and a towel.
